WordPress allows us to create websites, as we all know. But what is it exactly? WordPress is a content management system. Initially, WordPress was created for publishing blogs. But now, using WordPress, almost all types of websites, including blogs, magazines, e-commerce, learning management systems, forums, and membership sites, are being created.

The main advantage of WordPress built with PHP and MySQL is that it’s open-source, which means it doesn’t need to be bought. It can be used for free and can be modified as per one’s needs. Also, under the GNU General Public License, almost everything, including themes and plugins, created for WordPress can be used and modified for free, along with their PHP and HTML codes.

Alongside some drawbacks, WordPress has many advantages. You can get WordPress for free, along with over 12,000 free themes and nearly 60,000 free plugins available in various designs and categories, including functionalities.

These are just some of the benefits. However, many websites made with PHP Script, Laravel, or MERN, MEAN, MEVN, without regular updates, may become vulnerable in terms of security and performance. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain and update them regularly, which can be expensive for developers, especially for small websites.

On the other hand, WordPress Core is regularly updated. Free themes and plugins also receive updates. They are made compatible with the latest PHP versions. If any security issues are found, they are quickly fixed through updates. In this regard, it’s very beneficial for small websites.

With a large community of WordPress developers, it’s easy to find help when needed. Even though there are other developers available, reaching out to a good WordPress developer is easier and more affordable for small website owners. With a plethora of blogs, videos, etc., on WordPress, it’s easy to find solutions to small problems.

However, WordPress comes with many unnecessary functions, making it heavy. In such cases, creating a website with custom code can be much faster. Although, by optimizing properly and creating custom themes, it’s possible to solve this issue by removing unnecessary functions from the core.

Many large organizations have also been built on WordPress. Many are now shifting towards JavaScript, but for small websites, WordPress is still a very good choice.
